About St. Peters Private Primary

HISTORY

Founded on September 5, 1983

In July, 1983, Texaco closed the Primary Departments of St. Peter’s School. This was a sad blow to 25 teachers, over 300 pupils and many, many parents. Theories were put forward as to how to continue running the school but challenges were met. It was eventually Mrs. Rosalind Bhimull, Mrs. Linda Seepaul, Mr. George Patience, Mr. Anthony Look Tang, Mr. Andrew Pazos and Mrs. Barbara de Verteuil who formed themselves into a body, determined to chart the way forward.

3 female teachers and 3 stalwart gentlemen became officers of the Texaco Parent Association. The St. Peter’s Anglican Church Hall was rented from the Anglican Church and here, on 5th September, 1983, the St. Peter’s Private Primary School began with 27 pupils. Books, equipment and furniture were purchased with whatever little funds were available. The group was laughed at and the sustainability of the school questioned but they battled on, teachers receiving a pittance of a salary.

On 3rd September, 1985, the school moved to its present location at Bonne Aventure Park and continues to this day. From 27 pupils, St. Peter’s now offers quality education to more than 300 pupils, with a staff of 40. The school has grown to be a beacon of private primary education in Trinidad and Tobago, sought after for its exceptional standard of academic excellence and extensive programme of holistic development.
